Jackie Shapiro
Jackie has spent the last 35 years in non-profit leadership. She joined the ECPAT-USA Board in 2009, and, from 2015 to 2019 served a the Chair of the Board of Directors. She also serves as ECPAT’s main representative to the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the NGO Committee to Stop Trafficking at the UN. She is the founding and immediate Past Chair of Girl Be Heard, an organization that empowers the development of girl social activists through the theater arts. She serves as a Board member of the Soroptimist International Metro New York club, an organization that supports initiatives to serve women and girls worldwide. At the United Nations, Jackie has chaired the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, the NGO Committee on UNIFEM, UNA-USA Council of Organizations and Co-Chaired the Working Group on Girls, the NGO Committee on UNICEF, was Vice Chair of the NGO DPI Executive Committee and of the Conference of NGOs (CoNGO). For twelve years she was the United Nations Committee Chair for Zonta International, a worldwide organization of women in business and the professions dedicated to advancing the status of women and girls.
